One Hocking Hills artist’s decorative and delicate spin on the traditional pumpkin patch is returning this fall.
Jack Pine Studio in Laurelville is hosting its sixth annual Glass Pumpkin Festival Friday-Sunday, Sept. 19-21, which will feature thousands of hand-blown glass pumpkins in a variety of colors and finishes in a “patch” on the grounds of the studio.
In addition to picking a pumpkin, guests can also watch the unveiling of the Pumpkin of the Year — the first opportunity for fans of the legendary glass blower to snag the highly coveted, limited-edition glass pumpkin. Jack Pine’s glassblowing artists will also be working during the festival, offering a firsthand chance to see how the art is made, and an outdoor artists market will feature over 30 fine artists from the region showing and selling their works. And back again this year will be world-famous pumpkin carver Gus Smithister, who will carve a 600-plus-pound pumpkin into a live sculpture
Visitors can also grab food like pumpkin ice cream, mini donuts and more from over a dozen food trucks; enjoy live music; and keep kids entertained with family-friendly activities.
The studio will also host a VIP festival preview, “One Wicked Night,” on Thursday, Sept. 18. from 6-9 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a gourmet dinner, live music, silent auctions, drawings, door prizes and first dibs on the Pumpkin of the Year. The Glass Pumpkin Festival runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Sept. 19-20 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. Visitors are encouraged to reserve VIP parking online for $5. With each reservation, you’ll receive a $5 coupon to put toward your Jack Pine pumpkin purchase. There will also be day-of parking available for $10.
