A community-focused event that blends fashion, sustainability and philanthropy returns this weekend. Cincy Closet Swap will host its second-ever event following a successful inaugural swap in March.
In collaboration with Fldn Chairs and We Outside Cincinnati, Cincy Closet Swap is happening Saturday, Oct. 25 from 5-9 p.m. at We Outside’s retail and event space in Over-the-Rhine. The event offers attendees the chance to refresh their wardrobes, reduce waste and give back. You can bring gently used clothing to swap for new-to-you finds, supporting the circular fashion economy and keeping clothing out of landfills.
“We Outside is about cultivating connection, in nature, in our neighborhoods, and in how we care for one another. So many people want to live sustainably but don’t always have access to the spaces or tools to do it. The Closet Swap is a reminder that sustainability isn’t about perfection, it’s about creativity, collaboration and making it easier for everyone to participate!” We Outside Cincinnati CEO and founder Sierra Hayden said in a press release.
Proceeds from the swap will go toward Peaslee Neighborhood Center to continue its community-rooted programming that helps empower children and families through arts, education and leadership development. Additional clothing donations will be given to Lighthouse Youth & Family Service, which provides housing, mental health services, foster care and emergency shelter for children and young adults.
“This is more than a clothing swap — it’s about redefining what impact looks like beyond turkey and toy drives and creating spaces where purpose and people meet,” said Jasmine Ramos, CEO and founder of Fldn Chairs, a social responsibility consulting firm. “At Fldn Chairs, we believe in bridging culture and community to make giving back part of everyday life.”
We Outside is located at 207 Woodward St. in Over-the-Rhine. Learn more about Cincy Closet Swap at @cincyclosetswap on Instagram.
