Old merch from Over-the-Rhine’s Rhinegeist Brewery is getting a second life in a special showcase happening this month.
The showcase will feature unique, upcycled Rhinegeist apparel that was designed and manufactured by the team at vintage clothing store Jet Black Vintage (JBV) and interns from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP college. It’ll be held in the brewery’s taproom from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20.
Organizers say there will be 60 one-of-a-kind pieces available to purchase at the sale. JBV founder Nigel Agboh said all the pieces are highly unique, handsewn, sustainably sourced and created with intention.
“We are very excited for an opportunity to work with Rhinegiest in this capacity,” Agboh said in a press release. “Rhinegeist has been a huge support to our business over the past two years, from pop-ups and workshops to special events. This showcase demonstrates Rhinegeist’s commitment to empower artists/creatives/small businesses, and we are honored to showcase the spirit of their brand and our shared focus on sustainability, creative design, and community engagement. … We’re sure that everyone who attends the event will find something that they can’t live without!”
“Nigel and the team at Jet Black Vintage always blow us away. We are very excited for this showcase,” Rhinegeist’s vice president of marketing Tracey Ireland said in the release. “The items that the JBV team put together for the show are amazing, custom-designed pieces using old Rhinegeist merch. To see these pieces get a new life is really inspiring. This is the perfect opportunity for Rhinegeist fans to grab a collectible, upcycled piece of wearable art!”
You don’t need a ticket to attend the showcase, but if you’re interested in purchasing a piece of clothing, you’re encouraged to show up as early as possible.
