Social distancing is a term most of us are familiar with these days as we continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines of staying six-feet apart in order to help flatten the COVID-19 curve. But one local woman is helping to ensure she gets the message across loud and clear.
Angela Reuss, a single Cincinnati mom, has begun a campaign selling a variety of T-shirts with clever coronavirus-related phrases on them to help spread the word and raise money for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Response Fund. “Don’t stand so close to me,” “Please stand back, I’m social distancing” and “What part of social distancing don’t you understand” are just a few of the featured phrases.
“Going to the store and seeing people not respect social distancing rules is utterly frustrating and dangerous, especially in the city. I try to stay out of the way, and people still seem to find a way to walk really close to me, even when I’m trying to walk away from them. It’s incredibly disturbing,” says Reuss in a press release. “I’m sure others are feeling this same kind of frustration. So I decided to make a Social Distancing T-Shirt campaign, which will not only help people like me get the message across, but also raise money to combat this pandemic.”
One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the T-shirts benefit the WHO’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which helps to fund the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan — a program that helps patients get the care they need; assists with buying and shipping essential supplies to frontline workers; helps with tracking and understanding the virus; and assists with vaccine, test and treatment development and more.
There are also several varieties of shirts designed for essential workers and first responders.
T-shirts range in price from $18-$55.
