You can snag a Cincy Shirts’ fundraising “Fiona & Friends” t-shirt for only $5 right now.
The original fundraiser was part of the Cincinnati Zoo’s effort to help Zoos Victoria's Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund during Australia’s wildfire crisis last January.
According to zoo officials, the Cincinnati Zoo was able to donate over $207,000 to the fund, the proceeds of which primarily came from the t-shirt sales.
While that fundraiser is finished, the t-shirt, which has been reduced from $25 to a fraction of the cost, is still available for purchase. The tee features a customized design of Fiona the hippo with a kangaroo and koala by local artist Loren Long. A percentage of these proceeds benefit the Cincinnati Zoo.
The shirt is available in either heather heach, natural or light blue, and in a variety of sizes ranging from toddler, youth and adult.
Famed hippo Fiona defied odds when she was born six weeks premature at the Cincinnati Zoo. At the time of her birth, she weighed a meager 29 pounds — about a fifth of what most hippos weigh when they're born. Fiona celebrated her fourth birthday on Jan. 24.
