Cincinnati Bengals star offensive lineman Ted Karras is once again helping out the local community.

As part of his training for the Flying Pig 5K over the next two weeks, he’ll be visiting The Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center in Mt. Auburn for their annual “Joint & Swine” race.

Karras and recent orthopedic surgery patients will race around one floor of the hospital in a mini-marathon intended to help patients get up and move as part of their recovery from surgery. The event will begin this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. on the fifth floor of the building.

At the event, physicians will be present to talk more about how exercise can help in the post-op journey for patients, as well as ways to avoid injuries if they’re inspired to get into running.

Karras will also meet with patients and staff to learn more about the recovery process, and all participants will receive Flying Pig-styled hats from Karras’ Cincy Hat Foundation.

The Flying Pig Marathon weekend takes place from May 1-3. For more details, click here.
