Both kids and adults will be able to use their imaginations and play and build with LEGOs at The Brickery Café & Play.

The first LEGO café in the United States is slated to open at Newport on the Levee this year.

Cincinnati native Daniel Johnson will open The Brickery Café & Play in the 3,100-square-foot space next to Velocity Esports in The Gallery. The café’s concept will combine dining, shopping and entertainment under one roof and will be a totally immersive space for both kids and adults to engage their imaginations and build with LEGOs, says a press release.

“As an extreme fanatic of LEGO myself, I’m constantly in awe at how the toy has continued resonating with every generation for nearly a century. My family and I are so excited to join the Levee crew and we can’t wait to share this new journey with our neighbors,” Johnson said in the release.

The Brickery will feature three main parts, including a kids play and discovery area. This space will be designed for kids ages 5-12 to play with some of the biggest and most elaborate LEGO sets, including Harry Potter-, Star Wars- and Marvel-themed ones. The themed sets will rotate monthly. There will be a small entrance fee, and The Brickery will also sell monthly entrance passes.

There will also be a café selling light refreshments, with a focus on hand-crafted, flavored sodas and mocktails. There will also be teas, coffee, lemonade, fresh-baked desserts and other snacks available. A retail space where you can buy new and used LEGOS will also be included.

The space itself will showcase LEGO designs of Cincinnati-area landmarks and other works of art in the windows, and inside will be a mural painted by local artist Jonathan Queen. Every seating area in the store will also have LEGO bricks to play with, and if you like your creation, you can buy it and take it home.

The Brickery also plans to open a private event space for birthdays, company meetings, date nights and more, as well as hosting community events like Sip and Brick classes. LEGO Masters watch parties and themed building tournaments.

The Brickery Play & Café is slated to open this summer.
