If you’ve been living under a rock, you may have missed that this Saturday’s Fourth of July celebrations are extra special.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and you can bet that the entire country will be going even harder than usual this weekend—and what’s more synonymous with the Fourth of July than fireworks?
Here are five places around the city and the surrounding area to check out this weekend if you’re interested in fireworks celebrations.
All American Birthday Bash & Operation Thank You
Friday, 2 – 10 p.m., Sawyer Point & Yeatman’s Cove, 705 E Pete Rose Way, Downtown

This annual downtown event combines classic American muscle cars, live music, family fun and fireworks. “Operation Thank You” will also be happening at the park simultaneously to celebrate veterans, with special exhibits like a “Veteran Village.”
Friday, 5 – 10 p.m., Newport on the Levee, 1 Levee Way, Newport
Head to Newport on the Levee for a special fireworks showing from Rozzi Fireworks, the area’s biggest name when it comes to celebratory sky pyrotechnics. After the show ends, head to Bridgeview Box Park or Shiners for the official afterparty.
Saturday, 6 – 10 p.m., Washington Park, 1230 Elm St, Over-the-Rhine
Pour one out for the pets of every OTR resident, as Washington Park is holding a special fireworks show on the Fourth. Live music, family-friendly activities and plenty of local food trucks will also be present in the park.
Red, White and Boom at Riverbend with CSO

Saturday, 6:30 p.m., Riverbend Music Center, 6295 Kellogg Ave, Anderson Township
Cincinnati Pops are joined by Broadway star Mandy Gonzalez—of “Hamilton,” “In the Heights” and “Wicked” fame—for a special July 4 musical celebration at Riverbend, which will conclude with a fireworks show. Tickets are $10.
All American Bash at Voice of America
Saturday, 4:30 – 9 p.m., Voice of America MetroPark, 7850 VOA Park Drive, West Chester
The suburbs clearly like to get down for America’s birthday, as evidenced by the fact that VOA MetroPark has hired a Jimmy Buffett tribute band titled “Adventures in Parrotdise” to headline their July 4 celebration. Plenty of food and family fun are scattered across the park, with fireworks ending the day’s celebration at 9 p.m.
