The Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar is making changes in the new year. Well, at least one car is.

Twenty local artists have submitted original designs to wrap a streetcar via a contest conducted by ArtsWave, Cincinnati Bell and the City of Cincinnati.

The public can vote on their favorite design until Sunday, Jan. 16 — the one they think best represents “how the arts uniquely connect us and drive the overall vibrancy of Greater Cincinnati,” says a release. Those with the top three votes will then be judged by a panel. The winner will be selected Jan. 18.

Designs include a streetcar that pays homage to the city’s various ArtWorks murals, one that features a giant 3-Way and one that resembles a vintage postcard, among others.

ArtsWave says, “The first streetcar to don a new wrap is specific to Music Hall.” The newly wrapped streetcar will debut in early February.

The winning artist will also receive a $2,500 grant from ArtsWave and their own art exhibit on the streetcar.
