Cincinnati’s Crown Restaurant Group (CRG), the owners of some of the city’s most popular restaurants like Rosie’s Italian and Five on Vine, is launching its very own pasta sauce.
Gracie’s Gravy is inspired by the cherished family recipe of CRG Chef Anthony Sitek’s grandmother, Grace. Sitek says his passion for cooking was sparked in his grandmother’s kitchen when he was growing up in New Jersey, and he spent Sundays learning how to make her traditional sauce. The term “gravy” is how early Italian American immigrants often referred to their sauce, and that’s since become a beloved part of their culinary lexicon.
Gracie’s Gravy is described as an authentic Italian Sunday gravy, with the rich flavors of Calabria, Italy. It’s now available to purchase at select CRG restaurants, including Crown Republic, Rosie’s Italian, Losanti, Five on Vine and Young Buck Deli. You can also find it at The Native One in Over-the-Rhine.
CRG restaurants also offer many dishes prepared with Gracie’s Gravy, and Sitek has shared several family recipes that feature the sauce on the restaurant group’s website, like Vodka Sauce, Amatriciana Sauce, Arrabbiata Sauce and Bolognese Sauce.
