A new restaurant on Court Street in downtown Cincinnati officially opens this week.

Court Street Kitchen, the first self-created concept from experienced restaurateur Braheam Shteiwi, will host a grand opening celebration starting at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2. The restaurant joins a growing list of eateries at the Court Street Plaza.

The menu features New American fare, with a focus on steak and seafood, but traditional American favorites — like the classic hamburger — will also be available. Court Street Kitchen will offer Sixteen Bricks bread service, as well as starters, salads and soups to complement entrées like ribeye, branzino, chicken cassoulet and more.

To drink, guests can order from a list of signature cocktails, beer and wine by the glass. Owner and chef Shteiwi says he wants his restaurant to be an affordable, yet upscale spot.

“We feel like there has been a need in the downtown Cincinnati market for more places where you can go for a date night, an evening out with the guys or get a good family meal at a more approachable price point,” Shteiwi said in a press release. “We believe Court Street Kitchen is going to be a place that helps fill that gap and we’re incredibly excited to be able to provide that option to a wide range of customers.”

Court Street Kitchen also offers the VII Lounge, which has a dedicated bar, dimmed lighting and a state-of-the-art DJ booth. Shteiwi envisions it as a space to hang out before or after dinner, grab a drink with friends or catch a game.

Shteiwi, who learned the ins and outs of the restaurant business from his late father, Rakan Shteiwi, said he was intentional about working with local vendors while designing Court Street Kitchen. The restaurant features brass accents, brushed white wood and exposed brick, as well as tabletops from Cincinnati Wood Collaborative and booths and other furniture by Orange Chair. City Studios and John Tatone oversaw the design, crafting the space to incorporate an upscale neighborhood dining feel.

Court Street Plaza is located at 9 E. Court Street in 3CDC’s Court Street South Condos project. It joins a variety of other concepts, including Mid-City Restaurant, Pilar, Onolicious Hawaii and Avril Bleh. Pata Roja Taqueria and Daruma, a Japanese convenience store, will also soon be moving in.

“Our vision for Court Street Plaza has been to create a lively destination that features unique events and dining options,” Lindzie Gunnels, commercial leasing director with 3CDC, said in the release. “We recognized an opportunity for a slightly different take on the indoor food hall concept, curating a plaza with different cuisines and price points to reach a broader audience. Court Street Kitchen brings a welcoming concept and atmosphere that will accommodate a variety of patrons, from those looking to grab a drink after work to those planning a nice night out downtown.”

Court Street Kitchen will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 4-11 p.m. VII Lounge will be open daily starting at 6 p.m. Diners can make reservations on the restaurant’s website.
