A new English-style public house is getting ready to bloom in downtown Cincinnati, and it’s going to be smashing.
Crown Restaurant Group’s (CRG) newest concept, Marigold, is set to open in The Foundry near Fountain Square within the next month, according to a press release. The restaurant will be located on the ground floor between Five Iron Golf and The Davidson along Fifth Street and promises to bring an innovative culinary experience to downtown.
Marigold will offer an elevated, yet approachable, atmosphere, blending British elegance with a menu inspired by Indian dishes commonly found in traditional public houses. The dishes will also feature seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce.
“From our humble start with Crown Republic Gastropub on Eighth and Sycamore, we’ve been slowly branching out and putting our own take on new culinary flavors,” CRG chef and owner Anthony Sitek said in the release. “With our next restaurant, we’re excited to showcase our best culinary talent in one of the city’s most exciting developments in the center of it all.”
Marigold’s beverage program is part of an exclusive collaboration with Cincinnati Distilling, which has already produced a bespoke gin that will debut with the restaurant. Marigold Gin will be featured in a number of signature cocktails that will also complement the menu’s diversity. There will also be a Hot Toddy service and extensive wine pairings.
“We’re excited to partner with Cincinnati Distilling to create something truly special for our guests,” said Alex Stevens, CRG’s food and beverage director. “We’ll feature this partnership gin in one of Marigold’s signature cocktails, Pimm’s Royal Cup.”
The restaurant’s design is modeled after the 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement, with soft, diffused lighting and deep, moody colors like emerald, crimson, amber and muted earth tones layered with rich textures, like pressed marigolds, aged leather, polished wood and silk, to create an elegant and warm, yet bold and rich space. Intricate floral and botanical motifs reminiscent of William Morris’ designs; artwork inspired by natural forms and traditional craftsmanship will also blend together both British and Indian influences.
An official opening date hasn’t been announced. You can follow the restaurant on Instagram at @marigoldcincy for the latest updates and exclusive sneak peeks.
