Crown Restaurant Group—the owners behind some of Cincinnati’s most popular restaurants—have announced the grand opening of their newest concept, Marigold.

Marigold, located in The Foundry building near Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati, is an English-style public house set to open on Friday, Feb. 21 for dinner. The restaurant is located on the ground floor between Five Iron Golf and The Davidson along Fifth Street.

The restaurant promises to bring an innovative culinary experience to downtown, offering an elevated, yet approachable, atmosphere that blends British elegance with a menu inspired by Indian dishes commonly found in traditional public houses, including curries and charred meat and vegetable-forward plates. Dishes will also feature seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce.

Marigold Chef Megan Yung is a Greater Cincinnati native who trained at Le Cordon Bleu in London. Her experience includes working under Chef Stephanie Izard in Chicago at Girl and the Goat, as well as Cabra.

“At Marigold, we’re bringing something new to the Cincinnati dining scene — dishes that are soulful, layered and inspired by the places that have shaped me as a chef,” Chef Megan Yung said in a press release. “My time in London, working alongside some of the industry’s most innovative chefs, instilled a deep appreciation for bold flavors and refined technique. Now, I get to bring those influences to our city, weaving them into something truly special.”

“This restaurant has been a long time coming,” said Crown Restaurant Group co-owner and chef Anthony Sitek. “With each concept we’ve launched, we’ve pushed ourselves to evolve, and Marigold is the next step in that journey. It’s a place where flavors, textures, and experiences collide in the best way possible.”

Marigold is also part of an exclusive collaboration with Cincinnati Distilling for its beverage program, which has already produced a bespoke gin that will be showcased in the signature Pimm’s Royal Cup cocktail. Marigold Gin will also be featured in a number of signature cocktails that will complement the menu’s diversity, and there will be a Hot Toddy service and extensive wine pairings.

The restaurant’s design is modeled after the 19th-century Arts and Crafts movement, with soft, diffused lighting and deep, moody colors like emerald, crimson, amber and muted earth tones layered with rich textures, like pressed marigolds, aged leather, polished wood and silk, to create an elegant and warm, yet bold and rich space. Intricate floral and botanical motifs reminiscent of William Morris’ designs; artwork inspired by natural forms and traditional craftsmanship will also blend together both British and Indian influences.

Marigold’s opening kicked off with a friends and family sneak peek this week. Reservations are also now available on OpenTable.

Crown Restaurant Group currently operates six other restaurants in Cincinnati, including Crown Republic Gastropub, Crown Cantina, Rosie’s Italian, Losanti, Five on Vine and Young Buck Deli.
