Cincinnati’s Bond Hill neighborhood is about to get a little sweeter with the brick-and-mortar addition of a much-anticipated bakery called Davis Cookie Collection.
The cookie-centric bakeshop hosts its grand opening on Oct. 10 and is located at 4926 Reading Road.
The permanent digs are a long time coming for the bakery, which first launched in 2014, baking out of CEO Christina Davis’ home. In 2016, the business began operating out of Findlay Kitchen, an incubator in Over-the-Rhine.
But Davis’ passion for baking and entrepreneurship stem from roots that reach back generations. According to Davis, her family’s success owning a former restaurant and club sparked her inspiration to eventually open up her own business — along with her love for baking and Southern cooking which was instilled in her from a very young age, cooking with and learning from family members.
Davis Cookie Collection’s bakery will provide an opportunity to share their treats with even more sweet-seekers. While they will continue to offer their goodies via online shopping and delivery, they will now also be able to serve customers who prefer to purchase their treats in person.
In addition to gourmet soft-yet-crunchy cookies, which are made using Southern techniques and “real ingredients,” Davis says they will also offer coffee, ice cream and warm, made-to-order cookies by the dozen with customer’s choice of toppings.
When it came time to select where to open their bakery, Davis said she and her husband were particularly fond of Bond Hill.
“We decided that Bond Hill was the perfect area as it reminded me of the neighborhood where I grew up (Avondale). It just felt like home,” Davis says. “It felt like home to my husband as well as he used to play baseball in the area. Our church (Corinthian Baptist) is also very close to our location, which is awesome!”
In addition to their familiarity to the area, Davis says that the neighborhood was lacking a bakery, a void they are excited to fill for the community.
Visitors to the bakery’s grand opening can expect live music from local Aprina Johnson, in addition to “many amazing things in store for everyone to enjoy.”
