September is Bourbon Heritage Month, and downtown’s Fiery Hen is celebrating with myriad bourbon-doused special events including weekly free distillery pop-up tastings, signature cocktails and five bourbon-infused glazes for their fried chicken.

Every Friday night through Oct. 4, the Nashville-style hot chicken spot will host a different distillery, including New Riff, Northside Distilling, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark and Old Forester.

The month-long event kicks off on Sept. 6 with Maker’s Mark. Guests can expect specialty cocktails and tastings and an opportunity to dip Maker’s Mark glassware into the distillery’s signature red wax. There will also be a brief talk about Maker’s Mark and its role in bourbon culture.

On Sept. 13, Northside Distilling will be in attendance, speaking about how their urban distillery established its roots and offering their signature barrel-aged Manhattans or Peach Mint Juleps.

Jim Beam will head to Fiery Hen on Sept. 20 to educate guests about the bourbon-making process and to offer samples of their products.

Local distillery New Riff will host their pop-up on Sept. 27, with samples of their bourbon and rye whiskey, as well as a special cocktail and a discussion about the processes behind their modern distillery.

The final guest for the bourbon series will be Old Forester on Oct. 4. They will have have a variety of different bourbons to try, including their 86 Proof, 100 Proof and bourbon from their Whiskey Row series.

All Friday night bourbon events will take place from 4-9 p.m., with specialty cocktails continuing throughout the weekend.
