This one’s for the Ohio University alums.

Cincinnati’s Fifty West Brewing Company has collaborated with Northeast Ohio-based brewery The Brew Kettle brewery on a special beer release in honor of an “Athens tradition.”

The 11.5% ABV hazelnut coffee stout, “Oh You Oh Yeah,” is inspired by the infamous coffee shot the “Hot Nut” from Athens’ Tony’s Tavern.

“After a bit of back and forth with the crew at 50 West, we realized many of us shared fond collegiate memories from simpler times spent in Athens, OH,” a post from Justin Kerlin, VP of sales and marketing at The Brew Kettle, said in a Facebook post.

“Life was a bit smaller, slower, and our responsibilities were far fewer. As we swapped stories, a specific homey bar, Tony’s, and their infamous Hot Nut struck a chord. A simple mix of Coffee and Hazelnut liquor perfectly embodied what we were all missing.”

The brew features coffee from Ohio-based Hoof Hearted Brewing and hazelnuts from Canton’s Heggy’s Nut Shop

“We hope this beer makes Tony’s proud and resonates with everyone who has shared a memory in the little college town of Athens, OH. We are grateful to have been able to bring together partners from all over this state to create something special,” Kerlin said in the post.

According to a post by Fifty West, their brewery is founded and run by OU alumni. The brew will be available on tap at the Fifty West Burger Bar and will be for sale at local retailers soon.
