As part of a new promotion, several Gold Star Chili locations are changing their name to “Glizzy Star.” Yes, you’re reading that correctly.
The popular Cincinnati chili chain has declared that they are “now Glizzy Star, no cap,” that “coneys are out, glizzys are in,” and that customers can visit their local Glizzy Star to “glizzymaxx” by purchasing a Cincy Glizzy Two-Pack Deal, priced at just $5.13.
There’s also plenty of new merch bearing the name, including Glizzy Star bucket hats and shirts that read “glizzymaxxing,” “this grandpa loves glizzys,” or a Pen & Pixel tribute that simply reads “GLIZZY” while surrounded by cheese coneys. And five Glizzy Star locations will even be changing the sign out front to match the new name: Western Hills, Alexandria, Covington, Mitchell Ave and Mt. Washington.
“Gen Z has this incredible, creative way of taking something familiar and giving it an entirely new spin, and that’s the energy we really wanted to tap into,” Gold Star President and CEO Roger David said in a statement. “We’ve always marched to the beat of our own drum, and Glizzy Star is our way of having a little fun, embracing that bold creativity and giving our community a fun moment to share together over a couple of Cincy Glizzys.”
According to Glizzy Star, the $5.13 deal “ate and left no crumbs,” so while the name change is temporary, it’s unclear if the deal is — so get to your local Gold Star, er, Glizzy Star while you still can to enjoy some cheap glizzys.
