A one-night-only Valentine’s Day dinner and art pop-up in Northside will feature two chefs, seven courses and a whole lot of “abundance” in flavors.

Abundance, which is being put on by ish, a community engagement organization that focuses on connections through art and Jewish culture, will be held Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the ish Garage on Langland Street. Chefs Rotem Greniman and Adam Cohen will lead the upscale dinner event.

Greniman, who cooked and catered Israeli-inspired Friday night Shabbat dinners during the pandemic through Meals by Rotem, promises amazing meals through their intentionally crafted menu, which highlights the theme of Abundance with course names like Bounty, Myriad and Prosperity.

“We want people to enjoy the richness of the flavors and appreciate the symbolism of the dishes. It’s about love, indulgence,” Greniman said in a press release.

Cohen, a longtime friend of Greniman’s and a fellow culinary entrepreneur, is a scratch-kitchen aficionado and moonlights as a personal chef outside his full-time job. He says he and Greniman work well together as a team.

“I love working with Rotem. Her Israeli-Mediterranean dishes pair so well with my culinary voice. We have different styles, but they are really compatible. The food cultures meet, and it just works,” Cohen said in the release.

Organizers say Abundance’s seven-course tasting menu is also inspired by Tu B’shevat, a Jewish holiday that’s traditionally celebrated with a vegan meal made from seven plant species that grow in Israel. For Abundance, Cohen says the pomegranate is perfect for their theme.

“It’s luscious red, sweet, and perfectly tart,” he said.

The start of the meal will be filled with roses – in the form of cured salmon roses and beet rosettes – and pearls (made of pomegranate) and a pomegranate mousse. And it’ll finish with chocolate truffles topped with pomegranate dust. Organizers are keeping the full menu a secret, but say there will be a shared dish, pasta course, meat dish and fish dish that will highlight pomegranate in different ways. There will also be optional wine pairings and an accompanying art show.

There are limited spots available for Abundance. Tickets range from $180-$268 with options for private or communal dining and wine pairings. You can buy tickets here.

Part of the proceeds from the pop-up will go toward the ish Festival in Washington Park this October.
