Birds & Brews
If you want to meet some pretty ducking awesome birds, including possibly a famous local artist, here's your chance: local bird rescue Longbottom Bird Ranch announced its plans for its annual Birds & Brews tour across the region.
Home to Kiwi, the famous duck artist who was also a nominee for best artist in
CityBeat's Best of Cincinnati, Longbottom Bird Ranch is a "duck retirement community" that rescues abandoned domestic ducks and hosts educational events to raise awareness about them. Last September, the rescue kicked off its first Birds & Brews tour, taking its ducks to different breweries in Greater Cincinnati for meet-and-greets and to teach people a little bit more about them and the ranch's mission.
For their spring and summer tour this year, Birds & Brews is expanding to six cities and 18 breweries from March to September. The first two events will happen Saturday, March 25 at Happy 2 Brewing Company in Anderson Township from 4-7 p.m. Then on Sunday, March 26, the ducks will be at Northwood Cider Co. in Norwood from 1-4 p.m.
Apart from a lot of quacks and duck pets, Longbottom Bird Ranch will also have stickers, pins, eggs and original duck art for sale, as well as free rubber ducks for kids.
Throughout the tour, Longbottom Bird Ranch will also be hitting breweries in Columbus, Chillicothe, Indianapolis, Lexington and Louisville. At home, they're set to visit Rhinegeist, Fifty West and HighGrain, among other breweries. You can find a schedule of their events
