March First Brewing, the brewery, cidery and distillery based out of Sycamore Township, has acquired Middletown’s FigLeaf Brewing Company under its parent brand March First Manufacturing, LLC.
FigLeaf, which will be turning three in October, is being folded into March First along with its portfolio of popular brews including Basmati Cream Ale and Blackberry Fizz.
“We are thrilled to welcome the FigLeaf team, brand and product mix into our family. FigLeaf’s lineup is very complementary to the other March First brands and has a wonderful and loyal following extending well into Monroe, Middletown, Trenton, Greater Miami Valley and metropolitan Dayton markets,” said company spokesperson Josh Engel in a release.
FigLeaf founders Brian Yavorsky and Andy Allgeyer will stay onboard with the new parent company.
“We are very excited about our future and feel like we are on a team that can help us accelerate the plans we have been developing for years. Not only are we keeping the current staff in place, we are hiring bar, kitchen and cellar operations folks to support our next phase,” said Yavorsky in the same release.
March First President Mark Stuhlreyer echoed that sentiment saying they are excited to join forces with FigLeaf and “love what the FigLeaf team has accomplished with their world class production facility, their fantastic selection of beers, fruit wines and other innovative products. Joining forces with the FigLeaf team will make us smarter, better and stronger.”
The future of FigLeaf includes a taproom expansion and new facade with the current space staying open during renovation. As Yavorsky noted, they will also be implementing a new food and beverage menu set to go into effect this month.
FigLeaf is located at 3387 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Middletown.
