The Banks is set to get a new cocktail bar later this year.

Cincinnati-based hospitality group Four Entertainment Group (4EG) has revealed the theme and name for the cocktail bar they first announced would be heading to The Banks in May.

The space previously occupied by Joella’s Hot Chicken will soon be Killer Queen, per a release from 4EG. They describe it as an “elevated bar and pizza joint” which will encompass the 3,000-square-foot location.

Killer Queen will sit across the street from 4EG’s first spot at The Banks that opened in 2016, The Stretch, which is one of over 20 bars 4EG has in their portfolio throughout Cincinnati, Chicago and Columbus.

4EG says the new bar will “emit a high-energy atmosphere with an Americana-style interior including a wrap-around bar” where they want people to catch the game and relax. Their patio will also serve drinks and food within The Banks' Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA).

The menu will focus on build-your-own pizzas plus appetizers like salads and soft pretzels. To drink, the bar will have eight rotating taps, six wine drafts and craft cocktails. 4EG also says they hope to have live music.

“Named in honor of the Queen City, Killer Queen celebrates the 4EG’s origins in Cincinnati. Killer Queen is designed to be a local, go-to spot whether you are enjoying daytime drinks, watching the game, or dancing until 2 A.M.,” 4EG senior marketing manager Saijal Andreadis said in a release.

This new venture will be 4EG’s 16th Cincinnati location, which includes the recent purchase of Japp’s Bar from well-known Cincinnati mixologist Molly Wellmann.

“We’ve seen The Stretch, our first concept at The Banks, become a Cincinnati staple among residents and visitors alike. With the growing demand in the entertainment district between Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park, we aim to replicate that success with Killer Queen. Our number one goal is to create a truly unique experience for our guests, and Killer Queen is different from anything we have done before,” 4EG managing partner Bob Deck said in a release.

Killer Queen is set to open at 180 E. Freedom Way this winter.
