Stock up at the farmers market In need of farm-fresh, seasonal produce? Farmers markets abound in Cincinnati, with one happening most days of the week. Here are three favorites, as voted by CityBeat readers in the 2022 Best Of Cincinnati issue. Findlay Market: Ohio’s continuously-operated public market is full of independent vendors and a markethouse stocked with meat, veggies, homemade bread and sweets. On weekends, the shed plays host to area farmers selling their fresh-picked goods, including wildflowers. findlaymarket.org. Hyde Park Farmers’ Market: Held 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays through October on Hyde Park Square, the market features more than 35 food artisans and produce from sustainable farmers. Check the website to see what’s fresh that week. hydeparkfarmersmarket.com. Northside Farmers Market: This year-round market is held 4-7 p.m. on Wednesdays during the summer at North Church. Browse everything from baked goods and farm-fresh eggs to apothecary items and seasonal produce. Pre-ordering is available online. northsidefm.org. Photo: facebook.com/CinciNorthsideFarmersMarket/

The weekly Wednesday Northside Farmers Market is implementing some new technology to make the market more safe and efficient for shoppers.

First up: pre-orders. You can now pre-order your favorite farm-fresh goodies via farmnivorous.com. Orders must be received by 6 p.m. Tuesday for that Wednesday’s market (Blue Oven bread orders will need to be received by Sunday, on their website). You can pay with credit or debit or SNAP at checkout. If you are a SNAP customer, pay with SNAP and put in your Customer ID (first initial, middle initial, birth month, birth day).

Second: curbside pick-up. If you did a Farmnivorous pre-order, you can pick it up curbside from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. When you check out of Farmnivorous, you will see directions to email the market to select curbside. The Northside Farmers Market says, “You must e-mail us after you have ordered for us to have it ready for you at curbside; otherwise, you will need to pick up your orders with the individual vendors inside the market. You will receive an e-mail from northsidefarmersmarket@gmail.com with instructions on how to pick up your order.”

If you do want to do traditional in-market shopping, please note that vendors are encouraging pre-payment online. And the limit of customers allowed inside the market at a single time is 20. The entrance to the market is now on the south side of the parking lot, directly behind North Church. Please use social distancing when waiting in line.

The Northside Farmers Market takes place 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays at North Church, 4222 Hamilton Ave., Northside. For more info, visit northsidefm.org.
