It’s almost Cherry Thing-a-Ling season, Cincinnati, and you can make sure you get a taste of the delicious treat this year by ordering early.

Cherry Thing-a-Lings are an annual tradition from Schmidt Bakery in Batesville, Indiana. The fritter donut is a family recipe developed in the ‘70s by bakery founder Clem Schmidt and features cherries and a special glaze. They were originally only rolled out on the Sunday before President’s Day. Now, however, the bakery sells Cherry Thing-a-Lings for five days every February — from the Thursday before through President’s Day on Monday.

Schmidt bakes and sells record numbers of the fritters each year and sells out each day. In 2024, the bakery sold nearly 255,000 Cherry Thing-a-Lings, according to its website.

This year, Cherry Thing-a-Lings will be available for pick-up from Feb. 13-17 from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. or you can order some to ship to you on its website starting Monday, Jan. 13, or call 812-934-4501. The bakery says you’ll need to act fast though — quantities for shipping are limited.
