Hear ye! Hear ye, gentlefolk of Cincinnati! The Ohio Renaissance Festival will be making a special appearance at Rhinegeist Brewery this weekend.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, Rhinegeist’s taproom will transform into a magical, Medieval realm from noon to 8 p.m. as a variety of RenFest favorites descend upon the land of Over-the-Rhine. While the official Renaissance Festival doesn’t start until Aug. 31, the Rhinegeist event will still feature pared-down, indoor-friendly versions of some of the festival’s beloved activities.
Guests can expect the iconic turkey legs; pop-up activations from official Renaissance Festival personnel, including swordplay, live music and appearances by the Queen herself; and shopping from vendors of clothing, medieval weaponry, jewelry, pottery, leather, art and drinking horns.
“We are very excited to host the Ohio Renaissance Festival in the taproom!” Dan Edwards, Rhinegeist taproom’s general manager, said in a press release. “The Ohio RenFest has gained in popularity quite a lot over the past few years, and this gives people who live closer to the brewery an opportunity to experience the RenFest right here on Elm Street. We are looking forward to dressing up, traveling back in time, eating some turkey legs and having a few pints of ale!”
Speaking of ale, Rhinegeist will also have plenty of Chain Mail Pale Ale, the collaborative beer between the brewery and the Renaissance Festival. The brew will also hit shelves in cans as part of the Hop Box hoppy variety pack in August.
The event is free and open to the public. Rhinegeist says visitors are encouraged to come in costume, but they ask that you leave the weapons at home.
The Ohio Renaissance Festival runs from Aug. 31 to Oct. 27. Find more information at renfestival.com.
