Troy, Ohio's 43rd annual Strawberry Festival is about as wholesome middle America as you can get. This weekend-long strawberry-palooza engages not only the community by bringing together small businesses and nonprofits, but in years past has brought together more than 150,000 attendees from all over Ohio and the country.
The festival features a wide variety of events ranging from a strawberry pie eating competition, a diaper derby and a Little Miss and Mr. Strawberry Pageant to live music, fun runs and a big old parade with floats and fanfare. There will also be dance and athletic performances from local groups throughout the weekend and over 100 arts and craft booths.
However, the most exciting part is probably the over 60 food vendors who have incorporated strawberries in every way possible in their dishes, from strawberry donuts and strawberry cannoli to strawberry barbecue.
Troy is only about an hour and a half away — perfect for a weekend road trip.
