A Silverton restaurant is moving to a new neighborhood and bringing its menu of crave-worthy soul food dishes with it.
The Night Kap is relocating from its restaurant on Plainfield Road to 5841 Hamilton Ave. in the College Hill Plaza and is expected to open later this year. Owners Kirshane and Kyrah Ervin say they hope for The Night Kap, known for its comfort food, welcoming atmosphere and community-centered approach, to become a new favorite in College Hill.
“This is more than just opening another restaurant — it’s about creating a place where people feel at home,” the Ervins said in a press release. “College Hill is thriving and we’re thrilled to be part of that momentum, serving our signature dishes and building connections in this incredible neighborhood.”
Since it first opened in Silverton, The Night Kap has built a loyal following through its soul food classics like fried fish, candied yams and mac and cheese; hospitality and ability to bring people together over great food. College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation’s (CHCURC) says the restaurant’s move to the community is a testament to the growth happening in College Hill and its mission to bring in diverse locally owned businesses.
“Bringing The Night Kap to College Hill is a big win for our community and our growing dining scene,” said Craig Schultz, senior director of real estate development at CHCURC. “They’re not just serving incredible soul food — they’re locally owned, rooted in community, and exactly the kind of business that makes College Hill a place where people want to be. This is the kind of momentum that keeps our district thriving.”
Once open, The Night Kap will offer extended hours (5 p.m. to 1 a.m.) and host special events.
