Beam us up, Third Eye Brewing Company, because this Sharonville brewery has released a limited-time beer in celebration of the Cincinnati Comic Expo this weekend.
“Star Trek Powers of Illusion – Talosian Lager” was made in collaboration with the Cincinnati Comic Expo and the Federation of Beer. This interstellar brew was released Friday and will be available throughout the weekend at the Third Eye taprooms in Sharonville and Hamilton, the Sharonville Convention Center where the expo is being held and select retailers.
The beer is described as a light, crisp lager with Galaxy Hops added for a special twist on the traditional lager style of beer. Third Eye says the “Powers of Illusion” theme is a throwback to Star Trek’s original pilot in 1965. In the episode, the Talosians use their powers of illusion and mind-reading to imprison Captain Pike in worlds from his imagination and memory.
“We love doing interesting collaborations and we had a lot of fun with this one. It’s not every day you get the work with such an iconic brand like Star Trek to create a limited-edition beer like this,” said Third Eye co-founder Tom Collins in a press release.
Collins says Third Eye is also partnering with the expo and convention center for fun activities throughout the weekend, including a Star Trek-themed live painting event with local artist and muralist David Uy Friday evening, live music with Vinyl Countdown Saturday night and specialty drinks all weekend.
“We are thrilled to announce a unique collaboration with Third Eye Brewing. This partnership merged the world of Star Trek with craft brewing and created a limited-edition beer that is sure to excite both fans of the franchise and beer enthusiasts alike. Star Trek is a cornerstone of pop culture, and to celebrate its legacy with a specially crafted beer from the talented team at Third Eye Brewing is incredible,” Andrew Satterfield, the event director for Cincinnati Comic Expo, said in the release.
Satterfield adds that Third Eye’s Sharonville taproom, located just across the street from the convention center, will serve as a post-show hangout spot, allowing fans to mingle, share their favorite moments from the show and, of course, sip on the exclusive Star Trek beer.
Cincinnati Comic Expo runs Friday-Sunday, Oct. 18-20 at the Sharonville Convention Center. It’s Cincinnati’s largest comic con and pop culture expo and will feature guest appearances from comic creators and celebrities, a costume contest, a video game tournament and more.
