The 2018 CEAs at Memorial Hall Chuck Loftice

The 2018 CEAs at Memorial Hall Chuck Loftice

This weekend, it’s finally time for the 2019 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards, CityBeat‘s long-running celebration of local music-makers, now in its 22nd year.

The show will feature live performances from Maria Carrelli, Go Go Buffalo, Bla’szé, Patterns of Chaos, Multimagic and Soften and awards will be doled out in 19 categories, including 13 genre-specific ones and awards for things like Best Music Video and Best Live Act, plus the “Big 3” critical-achievement awards for New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; showtime is 7 p.m. Get your tickets here. Visit cincinnatientertainmentawards.com for even more info.

Here are a few updates and odds and ends related to this year’s CEAs.

• If you can’t make it to Memorial Hall — whether you’re lazy, live out of town or just want to watch from your couch — you’re in luck. Longtime CEA partners IRC-TV will once again be streaming it live, this year via CityBeat‘s Facebook page. Video will be posted to YouTube at a later date. Check out last year’s CEAs here if you want a sense of what to expect.

• The legendary CEA after-party will take place immediately after the show at Lucius Q (founded by Aaron Sharpe, who returns as CEA co-host this year alongside Chanell Karr). A pair of CEA nominees will be performing at the shindig — Madqueen (a New Artist of the Year nom) and Blossom Hall, who are nominated in the Alternative/Indie category. The after-party is free to attend — find more deets here.

• If you’re an introvert who suffers from social anxiety and likes to know what’s going to happen when going to public events, we feel ya. The CEAs are totally casual and everyone is chill, fun or some combination of the two. Below is the full schedule of awards and performances.
