Cincinnati Folk faves The Tillers are hosting a “string band” showcase this Saturday, Feb. 9 at Southgate House Revival.
The powerhouse lineup for the first Old Time String Breakers Ball features some of Greater Cincinnati’s finest Americana and Bluegrass groups, including Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle, The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars, Chelsea Ford & The Trouble, Old Souls String Band and Slippery Creek. The Rabbit Hash String Band will also be on hand to back up an old-fashioned square dance session at 7:45 p.m. The Tillers close out the night, hitting the stage at 10:45 p.m.
The Old Time String Breakers Ball kicks off at 7 p.m. There will be performances in the Southgate House Revival’s Sanctuary and Lounge performance spaces (the William Fitzsimmons’ concert Saturday is in the Revival Room and is a separately ticketed event).
Tickets are $15 in advance (through ticketweb.com) or $20 at the door. (UPDATE: Late on Feb. 7 it was announced that the show has officially sold out.)
Last year, CityBeat chatted with The Tillers about their self-titled album, the quartet’s debut for area label SofaBurn Records. Read the full cover-story feature on the band’s long and winding road to its latest album here.
