Cincinnati Punk Rock rascals Two Inch Winky are back with a new 20-song album release titled Fuck You.
The band featuring “former and founding” members of Cincy Punk legends The Dopamines “writes short, fast songs in an effort to make themselves laugh,” according to a press release from longtime local indie label Phratry Records, which is issuing the record. Exhibit A: The 20 songs on Fuck You fit onto a 7-inch vinyl single (played at 33 1/3 speed). Exhibit B: The songs on the release include Queen City-relatable tunes like “Gorilla vs. Kid” (about the Cincinnati Zoo’s infamous incident involving the gorilla Harambe; R.I.P. King)” and “The Thompson House Sucks” (about the Newport venue formerly known as the original Southgate House), as well as songs like “I Peed the Couch,” “I Drink Too Much Mountain Dew,” “Dan Puked in the Bushes at Chili Time” and… well, you get the picture.
The band has been an occasional fun side-project for more than a decade for the musicians, and their resurrections are usually timed to Christmas. The group often gets together for shows around the holidays and has issued a shit-ton of Xmas material, including 2009’s Misfits-parodying Legacy of the Nativity and 2014’s Black Christmas.
The band will celebrate the release of Fuck You (not to be confused with Fuck You, Etc. or Fuck You, It’s Christmas) this Friday, Feb. 28 at the Southgate House Revival in Newport. The show is free and kicks off at 10 p.m. Casino Warrior, Sleepcrawler and Sok will also perform.
Fuck You is available digitally and can be ordered on CD and vinyl via the Two Inch Winky Bandcamp page.
UPDATE: Phratry shared a new Two Inch Winky music video for “I Swear to God I’m Punk Rock” today (Feb. 28).
