Such uncertain times have garnered unity and teamwork around the world, with people coming together to spread joy by thanking first responders, celebrating drive-by birthdays and joining together in song.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital wanted to offer their patients and the greater community some happiness during these uncertain times, so they asked a slew of Cincinnati musicians to collaborate on a cover of Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” from their living rooms.
In the YouTube video, Cincinnati Children’s says, “At Cincinnati Children’s, we know we don’t carry the burden of this tough time alone.”
Released on May 12, the video has already received almost 5,000 views and tons of comments from appreciative Cincinnatians. Some of these, posted to YouTube, include:
“I can imagine Bill Withers, so recently in heaven, smiling and perhaps shedding tears as did I watching this,” wrote user Mary Pierce-Brosmer.
“This is so beautiful. So wonderful to see our local musicians’ perfect tribute to the doctors and nurses of Children’s and to the late great Bill Withers,” wrote user Chantelle Stanton.
“I see and recognize some of the names listed, but I would love to know all the groups the musicians represent. I was touched by it! And would love to support them when I can live!,” wrote user mr g.
Local musicians who used their time and talents to make this uplifting video include Bob Nyswonger on bass, Brian Lovely on guitar, Kim Taylor on vocals, Mike Oberst on vocals and banjo, Ricky Nye on electric piano, Rob Fetters on guitar, Roger Klug on guitar and many more.
