[PHOTOS] Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman and Others Take the Stage During Day One of Nelsonville Music Festival

Another year has come and gone, but Nelsonville Music Festival still holds strong. While the world is in apparent turmoil, this beautiful music festival seemingly restores some faith in humanity.

A little over two hours east of Cincinnati and nestled on the outskirts of Hocking Hills, Stuart’s Opera House hosts a music festival with a charm like no other. The Snow Fork Event Center stays tried and true, encapsulating the 19 years of magic. Headliners Charley Crockett, Waxahatchee and Taj Mahal kicked off the summer solstice with a “heat wave” of talent, along with Greater Cincinnati’s very own Jordan Smart. From folk/country to garage punk and rock and roll, Nelsonville Fest has it all.

This year took on a somber note as a celebration of life was hosted by singer-songwriter and actor Bonnie “Prince” Billy for prolific artist, musician and Nelsonville friend Michael “Doc Snock” Hurley, who passed away mere months before the festival. The “Godfather of Folk” had a deep admiration for the fest and performed multiple days every year. He will be missed by musicians and fans worldwide.

As the end of an era unfolds, a new one begins. Will we see you next year for Nelsonville Music Festival’s 20th anniversary?
