Hard-touring Cincinnati-based Jamgrass heroes Rumpke Mountain Boys are hitting the road for an extended trek soon, this time with likeminded Montana “Psychedelic Bluegrass” outfit Kitchen Dwellers for a cross-country adventure. The co-headline tour begins March 1 in West Virginia and will be taking the Rumpkes up and down the West Coast, with dates in Oregon, Washington and California, where they’ll participate in the huge Winter Wondergrass fest amongst the mountains of Lake Tahoe in early April.

The kings of “Trashgrass” have built a big following on the national touring circuit, but they still have big love for their hometown fans. This Saturday, the band hosts a “Fan Appreciation Night” at Octave, the on-the-rise Covington venue that has become a popular stop for touring acts traveling in “Jam band” circles (and for locals that fit that bill, as well).

Along with “Rumpke-themed drink” specials, the group has been getting get fans involved by taking requests on its Facebook page (see below). While one fan (who also confirms their attendance and shares the post with their own FB friends) will have their selection played Saturday, the band will also be considering everyone’s requests, though, they warn, nothing can be promised, since the Rumpkes never go into a show with a pre-planned setlist. Still — worth a shot, and since its Fan Appreciation Night and you are a, you know, “fan,” we imagine you’ll be pleased with whatever they play.

The group is also giving away tickets to the Octave show (and, for diehards attending each stop of its brief Fan Appreciation Tour, including Dayton and Toledo dates Thursday and Friday, tickets can be won for all three dates) via Facebook. Click here now and act fast — winners are being announced tomorrow at noon.

Saturday’s show begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10.
