Ron Pope is coming to Ludlow Garage on his “Neon and Glass World Tour” at the end of this month, bringing his authentic, genre-bending sound and lyricism with him as he performs songs both new and old on the setlist.
Known most famously for his viral hit “A Drop in the Ocean,” Pope has been able to showcase his heartfelt storytelling through his music for decades. Upon its initial release in 2007, the song was a single from Pope’s album, Daylight. Gaining over one billion streams, the song went platinum in 2021, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
As an independent artist, Pope has written and produced several albums on his own label, Brooklyn Basement Records, which he started with his wife in 2015. Based out of Nashville, Pope has emphasized his music’s roots in how he grew up and where he was raised in Marietta, Georgia. His music has a way of immersing listeners in a world of country and blues and tin-roofed houses, combined with classic rock and soulful melodies that make for an introspective listening experience.
Pope recently released his newest album, American Man, American Music, on Valentine’s Day. The album explores Pope’s love for his family and the idea of building a home in America, along with themes reminiscent of Pope’s upbringing. The lead single from the album, “Mama Drove A Mustang,” provides a raw look into the album itself as Pope gives listeners a peek into the open road that led him from where he started to where he is now.
