If you have the time (and the endurance), this Sunday at Germania Park in Colerain, you can check out over eight hours of local Blues talent as the annual “Cincinnati Blues Challenge” returns for its 11th annual event. —-
The Cincy Blues Society puts on the all-day affair as a way to select local musicians to perform at the Cincy Blues Fest (coming up this August 7 and 8 at Sawyer Point), as well as to decide what artists will represent Cincinnati at the International Blues Challenge, held each year in Memphis.
Gates open at 11:30 a.m. and music starts at 12:30 p.m. with Ricky Nye. Other artists participating: Rooster Forbes, The Josh Pilot Band, The Medicine Men, The Bones Dupree Band, The Blue Shivers, Michael Locke and the Repeat Offenders, The Mudpies, Bob Dellaposta and the Broken Strings, The Blue Birds, B. Hatfield Blue Band, Johnny and the Dangerous Bunch, Cheryl Renee and Them Bones, Johnny Fink and the Intrusion, Voodoo Puppet, II Juicy, The Blues Merchants, The Tempted Souls Band, Blumanchu, Chuck Brisbin and the Tuna Project, The Doug Hart Band, Bad Bob Band, Ralph and the Rhythm Hounds and Dick and the Roadmasters.
Music is slated to run until 9 p.m. after which the winners will be announced. Tickets are $15 (which equals about a buck and a quarter per band if you stay all day). Cincy Blues Society members get in for $10. Kids 16 and under get in free with a paying adult.
