The Ice Cream Factory hosts a solo show of work by self-taught photographer EgoMaps. The photographer’s eponymous documentary endeavor engages people as subjects in “35mm poetry,” influenced by Buddhist thought regarding the ego. EgoMaps first began the project in 2013 and the photographer’s subjects demonstrate the sober, vegan, transgender artist of color’s access to a world few others see. Like a contemporary Nan Goldin, EgoMaps’ snapshot-aesthetic photographs feature people who don’t fit into tidy boxes of gender, power, race and sexuality. The exhibition marks the release of EgoMaps Blue Edition, a 32-page, full-color photo zine. For mature audiences.
7-11 p.m. Thursday. Free. The Ice Cream Factory, 2133 Central Ave. Brighton, ego-maps.com.
