The Sick of Stupid Comedy Tour, featuring comics Tom Simmons, Stewart Huff and Cliff Cash, seeks to give audiences a different take on Southern humor. “I’m a Southerner,” says Cash, who also organized the tour. “I have bit of a Southern accent. I talk about the South, and I’m a pretty liberal thinker.” That’s sometimes difficult below the Mason-Dixon line. “So I do see a lot of bigotry, racism, political incorrectness and political obliviousness, and it’s hard for me not to talk about that stuff.” Simmons and Huff, too, offer smart, sometimes Southern-fried comedy, but it’s not the same guy three times. Simmons leans more political while Huff is mostly interested in science, and Cash does a lot of social observation. “We’re all different enough that we complement each other without being redundant,” Cash says.
