“When Underbelly was in Cincinnati, it was always my favorite night of the month,” says comedian Mike Cronin. “The worst part about it was that it was usually so packed that we couldn’t watch the show. Whenever we could, our friends onstage would completely surprise us with what they came up with that month.” The award-winning showcase of stand-up comedians doing sketches, improv, music, poetry — basically everything except actual stand-up — returns for a one-off on Tuesday at the Southgate House Revival. This year’s show will feature local comedians as well as Cincinnati ex-pat Ryan Singer (IFC’s Maron) and soon-to-be ex Cronin, who will be moving to Chicago in January. Sketch group Future Science will also perform. “It is truly a night where anything can happen onstage,” Cronin says. “In the past, we’ve had a professional wrestler giving self-help advice, an interpretative dance of ’80s TV show themes and a sock puppet who tells you to do horrible things.”
