Last evening at the opening of Cinderella (a show that features three of the four women who entertained Cincinnati audiences for a six-week run of the The Marvelous Wonderettes), Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati’s Lynn Meyers announced that they’ll be back — with the fourth member of their quartet for another go-round with the feel-good girl group.
It’s a clever sequel, Winter Wonderettes, and Meyers has scheduled it for June 24-July 24, 2011. —-All four of the hit show’s cast members (Sara Mackie, Gia Gentile, Brooke Rucidlo and Denise Devlin) will be back for the show’s regional premiere, celebrating some of the ’60s greatest holiday hits, including “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Santa Baby” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”
Set in Harper’s Hardware on Christmas 1968, a few months after their 10-year high school reunion, Winter Wonderettes picks up where The Marvelous Wonderettes left off. It will truly be Christmas in July! Pre-sale tickets for subscribers ($30) begin on Dec. 6; tickets go on sale to the general public ($35) on Dec. 10. Might be a great holiday gift!
With Glee, the show originally scheduled for summer 2011 that has been postponed, ETC intends to present it at a later date.
This article appears in Dec 1-7, 2010.
