The Mayerson JCC Jewish & Israeli Film Festival will feature some of the best works of Israel’s thriving film industry. In four theater venues — Hebrew Union College, Cinemark Oakley Station, Kenwood Theatre and the Mayerson JCC — over the next three weeks (Feb. 8-27), the 2014 film festival will have a variety of films for everyone’s tastes and interests, including contemporary dramas, documentaries, Jewish-interest films and more.
Opening night will feature the acclaimed movie The Yellow Ticket, a progressive 1931 silent film with secret identities, heroic measures and triumphant love as a woman overcomes adversity. Experience the cinematic classic as it comes to life with the rich sound of music, performed live by Grammy winner, klezmer violinist and composer Alicia Svigals and Jazz pianist Marilyn Lerner. Opening night includes a dessert reception and a private meet-and-greet with the musicians.
