When a full/new moon makes its appearance during the time when it’s closest to the earth in its elliptical orbit, the result is a moon that looks 14-percent bigger and about 30-percent brighter, aka a Supermoon. Watch it rise at the Cincinnati Observatory, followed by viewings of Saturn and Mars through their historic telescope. Rain date is Sunday, when the moon will be just as big.
