Evan Brass, former singer/songwriter/guitarist for the popular local Power Pop band Fizzgig, moved to Los Angeles last summer to pursue a career in music. Tomorrow (Nov. 9) at the 20th Century Theatre in Oakley, Brass returns to Cincinnati as a result of his ongoing sideman work, playing bass with Pop singer/songwriter Joshua Radin’s band. —-
Brass has been on tour with Radin — a Northern Ohio native whose numerous song placements in TV shows and a growing fanbase have helped his last couple of albums debut in the Top 5 on iTunes’ sales charts — since September in support of Radin’s new The Rock and the Tide release. Brass appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show (check it here) last month with Radin (Ellen is such a huge Radin fan she had him sing at her wedding to actress Portia De Rossi) and also did several dates in the U.K.
Since moving following Fizzgig’s farewell show last spring, Brass (who studied Classical guitar at CCM and NKU and also counts music production as one of his many skills) has also toured with A&M/Octone recording artist Kevin Hammond and Atlantic/F-Stop recording artist Matt Hires (who, coincidentally, is booked by another former local, Duffy McSwiggin, currently an agent with the huge Paradigm booking firm and formerly guitarist for local ’90s band Stich). Brass also continues to work with local rocker Kristen Key.
