Japanese animator Goro Miyazaki (Tales from Earthsea), likely unknown to audiences here in the States, gets a push for From Up On Poppy Hill (thanks to executive producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall who signed on to shepherd the English language release), which focuses on a group of teens in Yokohama attempting to save their school’s clubhouse from demolition as Tokyo prepares for the 1964 Olympics. The English voice cast includes Anton Yelchin, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Noth, Christina Hendricks and Aubrey Plaza (along with what will probably amount to a vocal cameo from director Ron Howard). Now open at Mariemont Theatre. (PG) Not screened in time for review
