A store with a rather unique concept will open today in the Willkommen development next to Alabama Fish Bar in Over-the-Rhine.
Dis Und Dat, a “variety store” celebrating the German heritage of owner Christine Sieverding, will sell both novelties and everyday essentials—everything from newsboy caps and beer steins to umbrellas and candy.

Sieverding named the shop as a tribute to her late mother, who once dreamed of authoring a book titled “Dis Und Dat.” Though that dream was never realized, the store’s name honors her parents’ legacy.
“Given my background, Willkommen was a phrase I had heard often,” Sieverding said in a release from 3CDC. “When I realized Willkommen was the name of the building, I instantly knew this space would be the future home of Dis Und Dat.”
The store will have its soft opening later today, and the grand opening will occur Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sieverding hopes that the story can evolve into a “third space,” and plans to show old movies, play records, do crafts and host pop-ups to keep people engaged and coming back.

“Christine’s community-focused approach aligns perfectly with 3CDC’s ongoing efforts to bring people together,” said Christy Samad, EVP of Civic and Commercial Space Activation for 3CDC. “Dis Und Dat brings a unique, playful, and family-friendly element to the neighborhood and it’s encouraging to see continued momentum north of Liberty Street as we expand our focus in that part of OTR.”
