Nobody does spooky the way the Catholics do. The Mount Healthy Haunted Hall is a terrifically orchestrated, old-school haunted house that packs a hell of punch for the money. From the outside it looks like almost any other house on a quiet, neighborhood street, but once you’re inside a gaggle of ghoulish characters taunt and tease you through a wild maze. Guests are ushered through a series of nasty rooms that include a plummeting elevator and a turntable that practically knocks you off your feet. If you survive the house, there’s still a zombie horde and a chainsaw murderer you must pass. And that’s all before you get to an unlit maze. It took me 40 minutes to grope my way out. Proceeds benefit the Madonna Council Knights of Columbus and other charities. $10 per person with a $2 discount for a canned good donation. 8-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 7-9 p.m Sundays. Through Oct. 31. There is a lights-on tour for children 6-6:45 p.m. Oct. 25. $5 per child and free for adults.
