The Northern Kentucky Health Department says that as of 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, they have identified 105 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region — 52 in Kenton County, 24 in Campbell County, 25 in Boone County and four in Grant County. There have been five deaths reported to have been associated with the virus.
“Over the past week, the number of identified cases of COVID-19 in Northern Kentucky have nearly quadrupled,” said District Director of Health Lynne Saddler in a release. “COVID-19 is here and many of our cases are among adults ages 20-59. These are the same age groups that will likely be outside this weekend enjoying the warmer weather, so remember that you need to take the same social distancing actions if you plan on going outside.”
On March 28, NKY Health reported a resident of Kenton County died of COVID-19 — the region’s first death from the virus. The woman was 66 years old and had underlying health conditions, according to officials.
According to kycovid19.ky.gov, as of the 5 p.m. April 3, 831 Kentuckians had tested positive for the coronavirus and 37 had died.
NKY Health says that people with symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath) are now frequently being evaluated by their doctors via telehealth visits and testing is not required for a diagnosis. Even if you have not been tested for COVID-19 but have been diagnosed with the virus by your provider, you must follow the same care instructions: stay home, avoid others, take fever-reducing medications and seek emergency care if your symptoms become more serious. Let those you have been in close contact with know you have been diagnosed with the disease so they can self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms.
