James Wan (The Conjuring) offers up another installment in the saga of the Lambert family as they seek to discover the secret to the mystery that has linked them to a dangerous strand of the supernatural realm. Poor Patrick Wilson, who teamed up with Wan for the summer spirit sleeper The Conjuring, seems to spend more time in the spirit world than in the waking real world, but the pair have stumbled upon a creepy formula with an unshakeable sense of dread and enough twists to keep the chapters rolling in. Opens wide Sept. 13. (PG-13) Not screened in time for review
