If you didn’t read your CityBeat and missed the simulated campout at Bunk last weekend, this is your opportunity to check out the new downtown creative space at an equally cool event: Local “skateboard/music/art/enviro-anarcho-activism/whatever” zine deadramones celebrates its fifth issue with a release show and party, which starts at 9 p.m. Be there and you’ll catch four bands whose styles stray from what you might expect from a show put together to benefit and celebrate a skate rag.

The roster includes Kill and Eat and Dylan Ettinger and the Rude Dudes, both from Bloomington, Ind., Columbus’ Moon High and Cincinnati’s Sleeping Sea, whose collective sounds all range from low-key Psych-Folk and Pop to mutant cocktail Jazz and toxic Tribal weirdness. Not a lot of stereotypical party-line Punk/HC to be found here. The gathering will also include projections from local video artist and skateboarder Andy Licardi, a raffle featuring Alien Workshop stuff, more local zines and possible readings. Five bucks gets you four bands, cool videos, a chance to win some skate swag and the guarantee that a great local zine will be around for another issue … if enough of you show up.
