Trubies, fang bangers and all-around Sookie Stackhouse devotees might need to wait until June 26 for the latest season of HBO’s True Blood, but OG fans know it all started with Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Mysteries. Harris’ novels follow a mind-reading, (spoiler alert) part-fairy waitress in the fictional town of Bon Temps, La. With the creation of synthetic blood, vampires have come out of hiding and many begin to assimilate with humans, bringing with them lots of blood-sucking drama and an army other supernatural beings (were-panthers, really?!). Alan Ball’s steamy series based off the novels (starring Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, and a never-has-death-looked-so-hot Alexander Skarsgard) have catapulted Harris into superstar status. Meet the woman behind Bill, Eric, Sookie and the others 2 p.m. Saturday at the Main Library (800 Vine St., Downtown) where she will discuss her writing career, answer questions and sign books. A fundraising luncheon will take place from noon-1:30 p.m. For $100, fans can enjoy lunch, meet Harris and receive a signed copy of her latest novel, Dead Reckoning and front-row seats for her talk.
Go here for directions and to learn how you can sink your teeth into the ultimate trubie fan experience with Harris.
