Charles Woodman, a Cincinnati artist and assistant professor of electronic art at DAAP, reportedly has a knockout five-screen video installation at the new group show The Romance of the Road: Photographs in Search of the Promised Land at Charlotte’s Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film. —-Woodman’s piece, “American Diorama,” consists of five 45-minute video loops — with stereo sound — that each display a different view from a single-camera pan of the continent, starting in Cape Cod and slowly moving cross-country to California and the Pacific Ocean.

Dennis Kiel, the museum’s chief curator, reports that visitors are enthralled by Woodman’s piece. (Kiel previously was assistant curator of prints, drawings and photographs at Cincinnati Art Museum.) Romance of the Road is on display in Charlotte until April 11. Visit www.lightfactory.org for more information.
